Disneyland’s success had an unexpected consequence in the proliferation of small motels and shops that sprang up all around the park, limiting any future expansion. Walt Disney soon began to search for a new property that would be large enough to hold all the dreams he could possibly dream, as well as provide a buffer zone that would protect his land of make-believe from the encroachment of the outsideworld. He found that property in central Florida and began planning he park that would become the largest and most-visited recreational resort in the world.

Combining all the requirements of acoustics and sound system design for theater with the complexity of moving audiences, animated figures, and large scale special effects, makes theme park design a tremendous challenge in creating an environment where the technology is entirely hidden.
