St. Mark's Catholic Church houses the largest Catholic parish in the Boise Diocese, which encompasses the entire state of Idaho. The new 1600 seat Romanesque-style church was designed to provide the parish the strong community presence they sought, while meeting the specific guidelines of Catholic Church design. Incorporated into the design was an existing 19,000 sq. ft. structure that had previously been used as a worship hall by a local Christian church.
MLA worked closely with Johnson Architects of Boise, Idaho to design the interior acoustics, mechanical noise control, and sound system for the space. We planned the system to provide high intelligibility in a reverberant environment that would be supportive of communal singing. The loudspeaker system was modeled, using MLA's custom computer programs, to be unobtrusive as well as functional. |
