China Pavilion’s most visually prominent feature is the Temple of Heaven. Inside, a Circle-Vision theater showcased the country’s vast, wild beauty and its history and culture in the film Wonders of China. Guests entered the theater through large ornate sound rated doors. These had cam lift hinges and were opened and closed using hydraulic actuators. We worked closely with Disney engineers and door suppliers to design the necessary opening and closing mechanisms while maintaining the necessary acoustical isolation.
Japan Pavilion had a restaurant located directly over an ornate shopping mall. An exquisitely crafted ceiling in the shopping area was suspended on spring isolators to muffle the sound of walking on the wooden floors above.
In the France Pavilion, guests could sit down to watch a panoramic travelogue of France’s cities and historic structures in the Palais du Cinema. The film, Impressions de France, was projected on five screens encompassing a 200 degree viewing angle. The technology was similar to that of a circle-vision theater with specially designed lens bellows to attenuate the sound without glazing. On leaving the theater guests entered an open air market with themed absorption on the underside of the metal roof. |
