Both Los Osos and Colony High Schools opened in 2002 as part of the Chafee Joint Union High School District in San Bernardino County, located in the Inland Empire area of Southern California. The schools offers students opportunities to earn college credit through College Board Advanced Placement and Dual-Credit courses as well as the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program, honors classes, and the nationwide Renaissance program.
In addition to broad sports programs, the schools have a wide array of classes and clubs revolving around the arts. MLA worked closely with WLC Architects on Los Osos and HMC Architects on Colony to develop the interior design of the theaters along with the audio and video designs. The Colony Theatre Arts Department performs at the 1263-seat Colony High School Performing Arts Theatre shown in the photograph. The audio system is designed to handle a full range of events from
lectures to full theatrical and musical performances. The design was developed as a joint cooperative project with the two architectural firms.
